Have you ever realized all the ingredients in dog treats and how expensive they can be? We usually get the big box from Costco, but they have a lot of added ingredients. So I decided to make some at home and see how they turn out. These were easy to make, and I used ingredients that are beneficial to dogs.
You’ll want to gather all your ingredients and supplies needed to mix everything together for the dog treats. These ingredients are all safe for dogs to have. If you know you’re furry friend’s tummy won’t agree with one of the ingredients, then please substitute it with something else or maybe skip this recipe.
What you need
Oat flour– Aids in shiny coat, digestion, and joint health
Peanut butter- Offers protein, vitamins, and minerals, just make sure it doesn’t have xylitol in it- dogs can’t have it
100% Pumpkin Puree– A Good source of fiber, which helps with digestion.
Egg- helps bind the mixture plus has many vitamins
Water

When I made these dog treats, I definitely didn’t add enough oat flour and had to add another half a cup, which is why it is 3 cups. If the mixture is sticky and not like a dough, then slowly add more flour while kneading the dough. Once it is smooth, you can roll it out. I made this with the help of my little guy. He wanted to roll out so I put the sticky mixture on the counter and he started rolling, but it was just sticking to the counter and rolling pin. We couldn’t stop laughing.

Ingredients
3 cups Oat Flour
3/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1/4 cup 100% Pumpkin Puree
1 Egg
1 cup Water
Throw all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together to form a dough. Once you have a smooth dough that doesn’t stick to your fingers, roll out on a floured surface. Use a cookie cutter of your choice, I love these bone-shaped ones, and cut out the portions. Transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. I was able to make 70 treats and my pup loves them. If you make them in a smaller size then you will be able to get more out of them.

Store the dog treats on the counter for a few days, in the fridge up to 10 days, or you can freeze them and then take one out when needed. If you choose to freeze them, I let them thaw for about 5-10 minutes, and it is good for her to eat.
