It’s the end of June and the summer heat has taken out my hanging flower basket! Even though I’ve watered it every day! Maybe I’m just not meant to have a hanging basket out front this year…

So let’s make a new one, that won’t die on me! Haha

I wanted to create a basket that had some dimension to it and decided to head to Michaels to get some flowers. This was a fun and super-easy diy to put together. It didn’t take long to assemble either. I love working with different flowers and greens to see them come together.

I grabbed these flowers from Michael’s. They were 60% off plus, they had a tag stating that they were water resistant.

Once we got home, I threw out my dead plants in the basket and then cleared it out, with my hand, of all the extra dirt.

I used this spray paint and used a cardboard box that I cut a side out of. This way, I have a space to spray that won’t get the paint on the deck.

Once prepped, I sprayed the basket and made sure it had all sides covered and the bottom. I only did a little spray inside the basket because you won’t be able to see the inside. It hung to dry for about an hour, then it was brought inside for assembly.

I had these flower foam bricks and soaked them in a little water to make it easier to mold to the basket. It doesn’t take long for the molds to soak, they will still float but won’t fully submerge.

After the basket has dried, I then put the foam blocks in the basket. Cut the flower stems with wire cutters.

Now is the fun part, assembling the flower basket! Place the flowers and greenery however you prefer. I did mine like this but this is what I was envisioning for it. I’m so happy with how it turned out.

This was a quick DIY that was able to come together easily. I hope you find it easy too.
