It’s the perfect time of year to host a Pumpkin Painting Party! It’s getting chillier outside, the leaves are changing, and it’s October! I wanted to host a get-together with my coworkers because we love fall. We are definitely more of a family unit and like to hang out outside of the office. It’s a bonding experience for us to be involved together and it helps us work together as well. This post goes through how to host a Pumpkin Painting Party and some tips I found useful. It was so much fun.
Pick a day that works best
We picked a day that everyone had available and I mean we had to plan the date a month in advance to make sure it was before everyone’s calendar filled up. We chose a Sunday because it was easiest for all. Most of us love college football so a Saturday would’ve been difficult to schedule around game times. Go Buckeyes!
Pick your pumpkin with your design in mind
The week before, my little guy and I went to pick out our pumpkins from a local farm after school. We picked out a bunch of pumpkins but made sure to get some that we knew we could paint. He wanted to paint a car on one and a zombie on the other! It was perfect! I had no idea what to paint on mine so I researched on Pinterest different ideas to paint a pumpkin. My office is dressing up as Despicable Me characters for Halloween this year, with most of us being minions, so I decided to paint a minion and I can take it to the office to enjoy! I was painting 2 pumpkins and I would keep one at home. Since my little guy is dressing up as Harry Potter, my next pumpkin was decided to go along with that.
Stock up on supplies
I grabbed two plastic tablecloths from the dollar store as well as some large sponge brushes, like these, to use if people needed to cover a large area on their pumpkins. I also headed to Michaels to snag some new brushes, like these, to make sure I had enough for everyone. I had my own brushes but I won’t lie and say I wasn’t excited to get some new ones!
Plan your area
I had it all planned out on how I was going to set it all up. I set up our 6-foot folding table and put it next to our kitchen table then put out the tablecloths. I laid out plates for people to use to mix colors if needed, and then every 2 people had a cup of water to clean their brushes. There were paper towels out for everyone to use as well.
Now, I have been crafting and painting things for years so I have a good stock of paints I use. I just brought down my 2 boxes of paints for everyone to choose their colors. It was so easy that everyone was able to have multiple colors to choose from.
To Eat or Not to Eat
Everything was set and I just had to wait for people to arrive. I decided that instead of having finger foods, we’d have a small lunch. I made an easy tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I have a bunch of my sourdough bread cut and frozen so I thawed some slices and got an assortment of sliced cheese from Aldi. I also cooked up bacon if anyone wanted to add it to their sandwich. It was an easy and delicious lunch that was perfect on our cold rainy day.
Time to paint
Once everyone ate, it was time to paint. I was so excited for this. Everyone got down to business and it took about an hour and a half for everyone to be done. The longest time was waiting for the paint to dry between coats. Not all of us are crafty, so some were easier designs than others but they all turned out great and it was just a fun time for all of us to spend together. There were 8 of us that painted. I also put on a Halloween Party playlist while everyone was arriving and eating. Then I put on Practical Magic because that was the vote for something to watch in the background. I consider Practical Magic a fall/Halloween movie so it was a perfect rainy day movie.
This was such a fun party to throw together and didn’t take much effort. If you want to get together with friends or family this fall then I would recommend a Pumpkin Painting Party for all to enjoy. Everyone took their pumpkins home and will be able to enjoy them. It wasn’t so much as the craft we were all doing, it was just being able to hang out and enjoy each other’s company.
Hosting a pumpkin painting party is a fun and creative way to celebrate the fall season with friends and family. By following some simple steps-from setting up your space to providing a variety of paints and brushes- you’ll create an enjoyable atmosphere where everyone can express their artistic side.
