I’m not sure about you but I love a clean house. I’m not talking about all the toys picked up and everything put away, which is a wonderful feeling too. I mean, I want to know that under the toys, I vacuumed up all the dog hair, the bathroom is clean, the kitchen counters are wiped down under all the school papers, or that the crumbs are off the dining room floor where the Matchbox cars are. My son will get all his toys out again once I clean and I know that our day-to-day life will get things unorganized. I just like knowing that the house is clean under all that.

When it comes to the holidays and hosting, I know a lot of people get stressed when it comes to holiday cleaning. It helps me best to have a holiday cleaning schedule or plan for when I will clean. That way I know it will all be done before the big day and I won’t be rushing to do it all the day before. Make it a fun experience to get the house ready. Do it to your favorite audiobooks, or playlists, check out my Ultimate Christmas Playlist here. Or you could have your favorite movie playing in the background while you clean. There are many options to keep your mind busy while holiday cleaning and preparing for the holidays.

Cleaning Supplies Needed

You can clean with whatever you have or want, these are just the common ones that when I am doing a whole house clean, I make sure I have in stock.

Now Let’s Plan Your Schedule

2 Weeks Before

Start picking up and organizing where things should go

holiday cleaning - windows

Clean up less used areas (basement, spare rooms)

1 Week Before

Dust Everything

Clean Bathrooms

Clean Windows

1 Day Before

Clean Kitchen

Take out trash

holiday cleaning-vacuum

Pick Up/ Organize anything gotten out in last week

Sweep/Mop Floors

Vacuum

Day Of

Run Robot Vacuum if you have one or need to clean floor again

Clean counter after prep/food finished

Enjoy the Holiday

This is just a basic list that you can tailor to your own home and life. I know my husband and son will help cleaning as well so it won’t all land on me. It helps take the stress off of one person to have everyone in the house help and to break it up to over 2 weeks. I will write out the morning of what I will get done for that day, so I don’t forget anything, and will check off items when finished. That way my whole family can pick something to do.

I hope this helps you plan out your time for holiday cleaning your house and makes it a little less stressful. This is a festive time of year and even if I am cleaning, I am trying to enjoy the season.
